Transfer

After the embryo has grown and developed to the appropriate stage, it is transferred back to the uterus. This transfer is performed in the operating room adjacent to the embryology lab. After the physician prepares the patient for transfer, the embryology lab loads the embryos into the transfer catheter. The transfer catheter is then gently placed through the cervix and into the uterine cavity where the embryos are injected. Next, the catheter is microscopically evaluated to ensure that all embryos were placed within the uterine cavity.

Two weeks later, a pregnancy test is performed to determine the results of the IVF cycle.
