Menopause
Menopause is a natural event in a woman's life that results from the ovaries being depleted of their supply of eggs, designating the end of fertility. The decrease in eggs leads to a decrease in the production of sex hormones, which include estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Most women can tell if they are approaching menopause when their periods start changing. Menopause is confirmed when a woman has not had menstrual periods for 12 consecutive months.
Our centers have been instrumental in many of the menopause-related investigations, including studies using Premarin, Prempro, and various other forms of hormonal replacement therapy. Our services include management of menopause for breast cancer survivors and patients with osteoporosis and other disorders.
Our patient care facilities are specialized to meet the needs of menopausal women and include a Hologic bone densitometer for the determination of bone density, ultrasound machines, and on-site blood/serum testing.
